WHOSE COACHING UP THE COACHES?

Tom Sanders is a patriarch veteran coach of homeschool basketball.

After HCYA and during his tenure, over 30 players advanced to college basketball programs—at least seven received full D-1 college scholarships, and four went on to play professional basketball in the US or abroad.  All four of Coach Sanders’ sons played college basketball, some at the professional level, and today all continue to encourage youngsters in the love of the Lord and love of the game.

As one of the founders of the original HCYA Warriors Basketball program in the 90’s, he coached boys for almost twenty years in a program that excelled. Over the years, HCYA won multiple TX and OK tournaments including multiple National titles, competing against the very best private and public school programs.  In 2008, HCYA was ranked as the second best team in the Greater Houston area by RCS Sports.

HCYA Warrior Basketball emphasized and reinforced the efficacy, sufficiency, and reality of God’s Word.  Young men were relentlessly called to read, memorize, apply, and obey God’s Word.  The coaches and leadership did their very best to disciple the young men they were allowed to coach.

Tom is husband to Nancy; father of their six grown children (all home educated), and grandfather to 32!  As an attorney, he has been active for many years in the battle for liberty for parents to direct the education of their children.  He is listed as “Of Counsel” by HSLDA.
